Sri Lanka hands over 77 fishermen to India at IMBL

V.P. Dhandapani, Director of Fisheries, who was camping at the Karaikal port to receive the fishermen, told The Hindu that out of 77 fishermen, 60 were from Tamil Nadu and 17 were from Puducherry. Seventy-seven fishermen of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, who were released by Sri Lanka, were repatriated yesterday, The Hindu newspaper reported.The repatriation had taken place along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL). The Sri Lankan authorities handed over the fishermen to a Indian Coast Guard patrolling vessel, which was sent to bring them back home. The Coast Guard has taken charge of them and the vessel is on its way to Karaikal. Upon arrival, the fishermen would be sent to their homes. (Colombo Gazette)
